What Ambient Mode saves
Ambient Mode keeps a rolling buffer of approximately the last minute of audio from the selected tab. When you save, that recent sound becomes a recording in your local library.
It is audio only. It does not save recent video, listen to every tab, or reach back to sound from before you enabled it. Use Video Clip when you need the picture too.
1. Start before you listen
Open the tab you want to listen to and start its audio. Open the extension and select Turn On Ambient Mode. Check the status before relying on it.
Let the buffer build. If you save shortly after starting, only the audio captured so far is available. Use it when you expect useful moments but do not know exactly when they will happen.
2. Save when something stands out
Select Save What I Just Heard in the extension, or use the shortcut assigned to the save action. Chrome’s extension shortcuts settings let you check or change the shortcut if another application uses it.
You can keep listening with Ambient Mode running and save another excerpt when needed. Only record material you have the rights and permission to retain.
3. Name and trim the excerpt
Open the library and play the saved audio. Rename it with context that will make sense later, such as the topic and the idea you wanted to remember.
Trim the excerpt when you only need one part. Export anything important outside browser storage. Clearing extension data or removing the extension can delete local recordings.
Which recording mode should you choose?
Ambient Mode: keep occasional recent audio moments while you listen.
Normal audio recording: choose when a passage starts and when recording stops.
Video Clip: record when the image matters too. Stop the active recording mode before beginning another capture workflow.
If a moment is missing
Confirm Ambient Mode was enabled before the moment, the correct tab was selected, and the tab was playing sound. It cannot recover earlier audio that was never buffered.
